The Istorima Archive is one of Greece’s largest oral history projects, collecting over 20,000 personal stories from across the country and beyond. These narratives, spanning a wide range of subjects and time periods, offer a unique glimpse into the lives and experiences often overlooked in traditional history. The archive, open and freely accessible, serves as a valuable research tool, providing recordings, transcriptions, photographs, videos, and more. Through Istorima, individuals are given a rare platform to share their life stories, offering listeners the chance to connect with Greece’s past and present on a deeply personal level.
My Role:
As a Field Reporter to the Istorima Archive, I conducted desk and field research, interviewed over 30 storytellers across the Attica Region, and handled recording, transcription and editing.
Some of my favorite stories include:
- From Kastanies Village in Evros to the Schools in the Bronx
- The Side of Athens We Tend to Ignore: Stories from a Streetworker’s Perspective
- “I Was the Different Child”: Living with Phocomelia
